End of Summer HVAC Maintenance Checklist
Leaves are changing, the weather is finally starting to cool down, the kids are back in school, pumpkin-flavored everything has returned… are you prepared for fall? As you pull out the Halloween decorations and get your yard and home ready for the cooler weather, it’s important to include your HVAC system in your end-of-summer routine. Take a look at our End of Summer HVAC Maintenance Checklist below.
Indoor Maintenance
Prepare for weather changes by adjusting your thermostat accordingly. As the cooler weather sets in, use a programmable thermostat to adjust the temperature to accommodate back to school schedules and cooler temperatures to ensure your HVAC system is running efficiently.
Fall is also a great time to change air filters. Dirty filters can greatly reduce the overall efficiency of your HVAC system and should be replaced every three months or so.
Outdoor Maintenance
Make sure to landscape around your HVAC system. Trim trees and bushes and clear any leaves or debris that may obstruct your unit. Doing so can prevent fire hazards and other mechanical problems caused by stray debris.
Professional Maintenance
After this extremely hot summer, your air conditioner is likely a little worse for the wear. Call Columbia Heating & Cooling to schedule an A/C tune-up with on of our certified HVAC professionals. We’ll clean your A/C’s coils and condensate pans, clear the drain line, and perform other vital routine maintenance.
Did you know? The end of summer (while the weather’s still warm) is the perfect time to schedule your furnace maintenance as well! We are currently offering air conditioner, furnace AND fireplace tune-up specials. Combine any two tune-ups for an additional $10 savings!
